What test do I need?

We hear you, it can be confusing to understand what test you need for which situation. Luckily you for, we are the experts and can guide you through.

Looking to travel aboard?

Before you travel abroad you need to have what is called a Pre Travel Swab Test. The technical term for this is a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) Test.

We offer this as a home testing kit, or you can attend our clinic for the test taken by a clinician. We can offer an accredited Lateral Flow Rapid test or a laboratory PCR test according to the destination Covid -19 entry criteria.

You will need to ensure you allow time for the test and the results to meet the travel time criteria declared by your airline.

Looking to return to the UK?

After being abroad depending on where you have returned from; please check the current guidance regarding quarantine. Please check here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

This will inform you if you need a Day 2  and / or a Day 2 & 8 day test. This is will inform you if you do or do not need to quarantine, and if you need additional tests.

If you are required to quarantine, you do have the additional option to take a test to release from quarantine at day 5. All post travel tests need to be a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) swab test which will be analysed at our laboratory.

Again we can offer this as a home test kit or you can attend clinic for a test by a qualified clinician.

Our Rapid test product is The Standard Q COVID-19 Ag, it is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of specific nucleoprotein antigens to SARS-CoV-2 present in the human nasopharynx. It is a screening test taken from the nose to detect active infection and is 99.6%reliable.

    • Negative – You are not infected with the virus. Please continue to take sensible precautions.
    • Inconclusive – Typically a borderline positive/negative result. You require retesting.
    • Invalid – Occurs in 1-3% of samples. Typically (but not exclusively) this arises when insufficient human material is present on the swab sample and is more frequent with home test kit samples. It can be mitigated by using our specialist public health nurse – led testing service.
