What test do I need?
We hear you, it can be confusing to understand what test you need for which situation. Luckily you for, we are the experts and can guide you through.
How do pre-travel rapid antigen tests work?
SKC OH is introducing a streamlined service to introduce Lateral Flow antigen tests for your International Travel needs – pre travel (if fully vaccinated)
- Pre book the test kit which will be delivered to your requested address or book at our local clinic OX12.
- Self-test and send us an image of your passport ID & Kit result via our dedicated secure portal.
- You will receive a signed fit to fly certificate verified in under 2 hours
- 100% reliable service COVID tests delivered and verified nationwide.
- Dedicated client communication channels for live testing enquiries.
PCR pre travel tests = Our service uses a RT-PCR method to detect the RNA (ribonucleic acid) contained within the SARS-CoV-2 virus. We typically collect the sample by nasopharyngeal (throat and nose) swab. The Fit to fly certification contains the patient’s name, DOB, and passport number and a QR code to verify the test provider and lab service.

In the UK, ‘fully vaccinated’ means it has been at least 14 days since you received the full course of an approved vaccine such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, or Janssen. You can show proof of vaccination in England and Wales using the NHS COVID Pass (which you can get via the free NHS App in England).
SKC OH will not advise on country-specific requirements. Make sure you check what proof of vaccination your destination accepts, or if you’ll need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test, by checking the entry requirements for the country you’re visiting at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice
For travel purposes, from 4 October, fully vaccinated means you have received all necessary doses of a vaccine: in the UK or UK vaccine programme overseas
- with the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen vaccines (or formulations of the vaccines in the relevant countries such as AstraZeneca Covishielf)
- in the EU, Andorra, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, Vatican City State, the US, Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Dominica, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan or the UAE
Visit the Government’s website for more information on demonstrating your COVID-19 vaccination status when travelling abroad.

frequently asked questions
When should I take the test?
Because of the variety of destinations, my customers are travelling to, and because of the varied rules and restrictions in place in each destination, I am unable to advise on which test you should take or when you should take it. If you have queries, please go to the foreign advice website https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

What test are you using? How is the sample collected?
Our service uses a RT-PCR method to detect the RNA (ribonucleic acid) contained within the SARS-CoV-2 virus. We typically collect the sample by nasopharyngeal (throat and nose) swab. The certification contains the patient’s name, DOB, and passport number.
Our Rapid test product is The Standard Q COVID-19 Ag, it is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of specific nucleoprotein antigens to SARS-CoV-2 present in the human nasopharynx. It is a screening test taken from the nose to detect active infection and is 99.6%reliable.
Rapid antigen tests are verified and accredited approved self-swabbing devices – meaning a health care professional is no longer needed to conduct the test. Thus, removing the issues of time for lab reporting and high costs from the RT-PCR methods. Used in fully vaccinated clients for travel. SKC OH is using a system that allows Lateral Flow tests to be certified quickly, simply, and accurately for international travel.
What about lab registration?
My service is UKAS accredited ISO 15189, and I have partnered with a UKAS registered UKAS accredited laboratory. If UKAS registration is a requirement for your travel, please let the clinician know (for specialist public health nurse-led testing).
Who takes my test?
Testing is undertaken by qualified clinicians and allows individuals and healthcare professionals to maintain appropriate social distancing and test safely. Test consent documentation will be issued by SKC OH Ltd.
What do my results mean? There are 4 outcomes of your test:
-
Positive – You are infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Please immediately follow PHE England guidance to isolate along with your household If your lateral flow test is positive, you will need to isolate and take a confirmatory PCR test at no additional cost.
-
Negative – You are not infected with the virus. Please continue to take sensible precautions
-
Inconclusive – Typically a borderline positive/negative result. You require retesting
-
Invalid – Occurs in 1-3% of samples. Typically (but not exclusively) this arises when insufficient human material is present on the swab sample and is more frequent with home test kit samples. It can be mitigated by using our clinician-led testing service.
All outcomes are subject to testing fees and are non-refundable.
SKC OH Consultancy adheres strictly to medical ethics and confidentiality law and access to the Privacy Statement is available to all clients on request (NB in Covid-19 testing schedules no clinical data will be retained by SKC OH Ltd).
